Description: Hirschmann HiOS (HM2) OEM MIB for vendor-specific customization of product identification and branding objects.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is HM2-OEM-MIB?
The HM2-OEM-MIB is a Hirschmann proprietary MIB module belonging to the HiOS (Hirschmann Industrial Operating System) family used in industrial Ethernet switches. It exposes a very small set of vendor branding/OEM identification objects rather than broad operational data, primarily hm2OemID under the hm2OemMibObjects subtree. Because it carries no hardware or software health counters itself, it is used less for active hardware/software status monitoring and more to let management stations identify which OEM-rebranded variant of a Hirschmann switch they are talking to. It builds on the broader Hirschmann HM2 private enterprise MIB tree, from which it is subordinate. It is typically deployed in industrial/automation network environments where switches are sold under multiple OEM brand names but share the same underlying HiOS firmware. Engineers can download the HM2-OEM-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HM2-OEM-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Hirschmann industrial Ethernet switch
- OEM-rebranded Hirschmann HiOS switch
Monitoring Examples
An admin polling hm2OemID would retrieve the numeric OEM identifier baked into hm2OemMibObjects, letting an inventory tool distinguish an OEM-rebranded switch from a native Hirschmann unit without opening the chassis. Because the MIB contains only identification data, it would typically be polled once during discovery rather than on a recurring monitoring schedule. It provides no fault or performance counters of its own.
