Description: Hirschmann HiOS (HM2) LLDP MIB for Link Layer Discovery Protocol configuration and neighbor table management.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is HM2-LLDP-MIB?
HM2-LLDP-MIB is a Hirschmann HiOS (HM2) MIB for configuring and monitoring the Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP) on Hirschmann switches, which switches use to advertise and learn neighboring device identity over Ethernet links. It exposes global admin status, a per-interface table controlling maximum neighbor entries and FDB (forwarding database) mode, and related configuration group objects. Its monitoring value is topology-oriented: confirming LLDP is enabled where expected and that per-port neighbor limits are configured correctly helps ensure accurate automatic network-topology discovery and troubleshooting of unexpected devices appearing on a port. As a standards-based protocol implementation, it complements the IETF LLDP-MIB, providing Hirschmann-specific configuration knobs around the standard LLDP neighbor data. It is deployed on Hirschmann industrial Ethernet switches used in automation and process-control network topologies. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the HM2-LLDP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HM2-LLDP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Hirschmann industrial Ethernet switches (HiOS)
Monitoring Examples
An operator can check hm2LLDPAdminStatus to confirm LLDP is globally enabled, then poll hm2LLDPIfTable (via hm2LLDPIfEntry) to review hm2LLDPIfMaxNeighbors and hm2LLDPIfFDBMode per interface. A port showing more neighbors than hm2LLDPIfMaxNeighbors would allow, or an unexpectedly restrictive FDB mode, could explain why a directly attached device isn't being learned or forwarded correctly.
What Can Be Monitored
- LLDP global admin status
- per-interface maximum neighbor count
- per-interface FDB mode
- LLDP configuration group state
