Description: HH3C MIB for VLAN mapping (VMAP) configuration translating VLAN IDs between customer and provider networks.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HH3C-VMAP-MIB?

HH3C-VMAP-MIB is a private H3C enterprise MIB implementing the IEEE 802.1 VLAN Mapping (VMAP) feature, which translates customer VLAN IDs to provider VLAN IDs at network-to-network interfaces (NNI), commonly used in metro-Ethernet or carrier-Ethernet service delivery. It exposes configuration tables for NNI ports, 1:1 VLAN mappings, and N:1 VLAN range mappings between original and translated VLAN IDs. Its monitoring role is entirely configuration/software-state focused — verifying that VLAN translation rules are correctly provisioned and active on the intended ports — since VMAP has no hardware sensor component. It builds on standard 802.1Q VLAN and bridge MIBs, as VLAN mapping only makes sense layered on top of an underlying VLAN-aware bridge. It is deployed on H3C carrier-class or metro switches providing VLAN translation for service-provider Ethernet access. Engineers can download the HH3C-VMAP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HH3C-VMAP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • H3C carrier/metro Ethernet switches

Monitoring Examples

An operator can poll hh3cVMAP1to1Table (via hh3cVMAP1to1Entry) to confirm that hh3cVMAP1to1Vlan correctly maps to hh3cVMAP1to1TranslatedVlan on a given port, and check hh3cVMAP1to1RowStatus to ensure the mapping is active rather than left in a notInService state. hh3cVMAPNto1RangeTable, using hh3cVMAPNto1StartVlan and hh3cVMAPNto1EndVlan, can be checked to verify a bulk range mapping matches provisioning records. hh3cVMAPNNIState on hh3cVMAPNNITable confirms whether a given interface is correctly designated as an NNI port for the mapping to apply.

What Can Be Monitored

  • NNI port VMAP state
  • 1:1 VLAN translation mappings
  • N:1 VLAN range mappings
  • VLAN mapping row/provisioning status
