Category: Device Management, Vendor: H3C/HH3C

Description: An HH3C MIB governing console, SSH, and Telnet access lines for user interface management on H3C devices.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HH3C-UI-MAN-MIB?

HH3C-UI-MAN-MIB is an H3C (Hewlett-Packard/Huawei-3Com joint venture, now HPE-affiliated) vendor MIB for managing user interface access lines — console, VTY (Telnet/SSH), and related terminal sessions — on H3C network devices. It exposes configuration data for VTY access control (connection type, ACL number, row status) and status/session data such as the current terminal user's name, source address, and authentication failure reason, plus a console-line status table. Its monitoring emphasis is on software/access status rather than physical hardware: it lets an operator see who is currently logged in via console or VTY, from where, whether a login attempt failed and why, and whether ACL-based access restrictions are properly configured on each line. It sits in the H3C private enterprise MIB tree and depends on that vendor's general management-object conventions rather than an external IETF standard. It is typically deployed on H3C switches and routers in enterprise networks where administrators need to audit and control remote/console management access. Engineers can download the HH3C-UI-MAN-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HH3C-UI-MAN-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • H3C switch or router

Monitoring Examples

An admin would poll hh3cConStatusTable/hh3cConStatusEntry keyed by hh3cConUserIndex to see who currently holds the console session, and check hh3cTerminalUserName and hh3cTerminalSource against hh3cTerminalUserAuthFailureReason to investigate a failed login attempt. hh3cVtyAccTable/hh3cVtyAccEntry with hh3cVtyAccAclNum and hh3cVtyAccEntryRowStatus confirm whether an ACL is properly bound to a given VTY line, revealing a misconfigured or overly permissive remote-access policy.

What Can Be Monitored

  • active console/VTY session user
  • session source address
  • authentication failure reason
  • VTY ACL binding per line
  • VTY line configuration status
