Description: Manages H3C information center (syslog) output channels, severity filters, and remote log server configuration.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HH3C-INFOCENTER-MIB?

HH3C-INFOCENTER-MIB is an H3C (Hangzhou Huawei-3Com/New H3C) proprietary MIB for managing the device's "information center," the internal syslog subsystem that buffers and forwards log/event messages. It exposes configuration objects for log buffer sizing and remote log host settings, along with runtime counters for buffered log messages, overwritten messages, and dropped messages. Its principal monitoring value is software/operational-status related: it lets an administrator confirm the logging subsystem itself is healthy -- for example detecting when the log buffer is overflowing (hh3cICLogbufferOverwrittenMessages) or messages are being silently dropped (hh3cICLogbufferDroppedMessages), which would otherwise mask other fault conditions on the box. It is a vendor-specific H3C MIB, conceptually related to but not built directly on the standard SYSLOG-MSG-MIB. It is deployed across H3C/Huawei-3Com enterprise switches and routers wherever centralized remote syslog collection is configured via SNMP. Engineers can download the HH3C-INFOCENTER-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HH3C-INFOCENTER-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • H3C/Huawei-3Com enterprise switch or router

Monitoring Examples

Polling hh3cICLogbufferCurrentMessages against hh3cICMaxLogbufferSize reveals how full the local log buffer is, while hh3cICLogbufferOverwrittenMessages and hh3cICLogbufferDroppedMessages rising over time indicate the device is generating log messages faster than they can be buffered or forwarded. The hh3cICLogbufferContTable/hh3cICLogbufferContEntry rows (via hh3cICLogbufferContDescription) let an operator inspect actual buffered log content. hh3cICLoghostSourceInterface and hh3cICLoghostTimestampType confirm the remote syslog forwarding configuration is correctly set.

What Can Be Monitored

  • log buffer utilization
  • buffered message count
  • overwritten log messages
  • dropped log messages
  • remote log host configuration
  • log timestamp format

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Example using hh3cICLogbufferOverwrittenMessages OID:

Select an H3C switch/router (Info Center logging subsystem) as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type hh3cICLogbufferOverwrittenMessages into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, then select it and click OK. The number of log messages overwritten in logbuffer. On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is a Counter32-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the counter increases sharply between polls relative to its normal baseline, since an unexpected spike often reflects a real change in traffic or activity. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
