Category: DSL and Broadband

Description: Manages HDSL 720G1 modem units, providing loop performance, alarm, and configuration objects for DSL access.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HDSL720G1-MIB?

HDSL720G1-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB (GDC-branded, model 720G1) for managing High-bit-rate Digital Subscriber Line (HDSL) modem units used to provide leased-line-quality data transport over copper loops. It exposes system identification objects along with a set of alarm indicators covering loop and modem conditions. The MIB is squarely focused on hardware fault/status monitoring: it reports alarms such as no-response-from-remote-unit, diagnostic receive errors, and power-up events, which together let an operator detect a modem that has lost sync, is cycling power, or is experiencing line-quality problems. It does not appear to depend on other standard MIBs beyond basic SNMPv2 SMI conventions, functioning largely as a self-contained legacy device MIB. Typical deployment is in telco or enterprise WAN access environments where HDSL modems terminate point-to-point leased lines, monitored by a legacy NMS polling alarm status on each unit. Engineers can download the HDSL720G1-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HDSL720G1-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • GDC HDSL 720G1 modem

Monitoring Examples

A monitoring system would poll hdsl720G1Alarms and its children hdsl720G1NoResponseAlm, hdsl720G1DiagRxErrAlm, and hdsl720G1PowerUpAlm to detect abnormal modem conditions on each HDSL720G1 unit. A sustained hdsl720G1NoResponseAlm indicates the remote modem has stopped answering polls, likely due to a line fault or power loss at the far end. Checking hdsl720G1Version and gdc720G1SystemMIBversion confirms firmware/MIB compatibility before deeper diagnostics are attempted.

What Can Be Monitored
