Description: Manages DHCP relay agent configuration and option insertion on Askey DSLAM equipment.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ASKEY-DSLAM-DHCPR-MIB?

ASKEY-DSLAM-DHCPR-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB from Askey Computer Corporation covering the DHCP relay agent function on its DSLAM broadband access platforms. It exposes configuration objects controlling how the DSLAM relays subscriber DHCP requests upstream, including DHCP relay agent option-82 insertion (circuit ID/remote ID) used to identify the originating subscriber line. As a configuration-oriented MIB it is used less for hardware fault detection and more for verifying that DHCP relay/option-82 settings are correctly applied per line card or port, though a relay agent that stops responding can also signal a software/process fault on the DSLAM. It depends conceptually on the IETF DHCP relay agent information option (RFC 3046) semantics even though it is implemented as a proprietary vendor MIB. It is deployed on Askey DSLAM chassis at broadband access aggregation sites where operators need per-subscriber DHCP option insertion for IP address assignment and subscriber identification. Engineers can download the ASKEY-DSLAM-DHCPR-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ASKEY-DSLAM-DHCPR-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Askey DSLAM (broadband access aggregation chassis)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would check the DHCP relay configuration objects for a given DSLAM line card to confirm option-82 circuit-ID/remote-ID insertion is enabled, then correlate that with upstream DHCP server logs; a subscriber failing to obtain an IP address despite a healthy physical DSL sync would point to a disabled or misconfigured relay setting on that port.

What Can Be Monitored

  • DHCP relay agent enable/disable state
  • option-82 circuit ID insertion
  • option-82 remote ID insertion
  • per-port DHCP relay configuration
