Description: H3C MIB for subnet-based VLAN assignment mapping IP subnets to VLANs for automatic VLAN classification.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is H3C-SUBNET-VLAN-MIB?
H3C-SUBNET-VLAN-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB from H3C that manages subnet-based VLAN assignment, a feature that automatically classifies untagged traffic into VLANs according to the source IP subnet rather than by port. It exposes both scalar counters of how many subnet-VLAN mappings exist globally and per-port, and a detailed table mapping VLAN IDs to specific IP subnet/netmask pairs on each port. This MIB is chiefly a configuration-integrity monitoring tool, letting administrators confirm that subnet-to-VLAN classification rules are provisioned correctly and that the row status of each entry is active, rather than exposing hardware performance data. It is a private H3C MIB with no explicit dependency on IETF standards, extending the standard Q-BRIDGE-MIB VLAN model with subnet-based classification. It is typically deployed on H3C/HPE Comware access switches in networks needing automatic VLAN segregation for hosts identified only by IP subnet. Engineers can download the H3C-SUBNET-VLAN-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in H3C-SUBNET-VLAN-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- H3C/HPE Comware switches
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would query h3cSubnetVlanTable/h3cSubnetVlanEntry, indexed by h3cSubnetVlanVlanId and h3cSubnetVlanSubnetIndex, to verify that h3cSubnetVlanIpAddressValue and h3cSubnetVlanNetMaskValue still correctly map a given subnet to the intended VLAN, and that h3cSubnetVlanRowStatus shows the entry as active. Comparing h3cSubnetNumAllVlan and h3cSubnetNumPerVlan against expected counts helps detect if mappings were accidentally removed or added on a port. If a subnet-VLAN entry silently drops to an inactive row status, devices on that subnet would fall into the default VLAN instead of their intended segment. This makes the MIB useful for auditing VLAN segmentation policy compliance.
What Can Be Monitored
- subnet-to-VLAN mapping table
- VLAN and subnet counts per port
- IP subnet/netmask bindings
- mapping row status
