Description: H3C MIB for QinQ (IEEE 802.1ad) double-tagging management enabling VLAN stacking for service provider networks.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is H3C-QINQ-MIB?

H3C-QINQ-MIB is an H3C (Huawei-3Com) proprietary MIB for managing QinQ (IEEE 802.1ad-style VLAN stacking / double-tagging), a Layer 2 technique service providers use to carry multiple customer VLANs transparently across a shared network by nesting an outer service-provider VLAN tag around each customer's inner tag. No module description text or sample objects were supplied for this MIB, so its exact object names cannot be confirmed, but MIBs of this class generally expose per-port QinQ enable/mode configuration, outer/inner VLAN tag mappings, and selective QinQ (VLAN mapping) rules rather than hardware health telemetry. Its monitoring value is mainly configuration-state visibility — confirming a port's QinQ mode and TPID settings are correctly applied — rather than fault/performance counters, though a misconfigured mapping would manifest as customer traffic loss. It builds on IEEE 802.1Q VLAN concepts and interacts with the standard Q-BRIDGE-MIB port/VLAN model. It is deployed in H3C carrier-Ethernet and metro switches used by service providers to aggregate multiple customers' VLAN traffic. Engineers can download the H3C-QINQ-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in H3C-QINQ-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • H3C carrier-Ethernet/metro switches

Monitoring Examples

Without sample objects available, a concrete polling walkthrough cannot be grounded in real object names; typically an operator would check a per-interface QinQ mode/TPID table to confirm double-tagging is enabled on a service-provider-facing port and that the configured outer VLAN ID matches the intended service. This entry should be revisited once the actual object tree can be inspected.

What Can Be Monitored

  • per-port QinQ enable state
  • outer/inner VLAN tag configuration
  • QinQ mode settings
