Description: H3C MIB for Fabric Topology Management (FTM) in IRF stacking systems managing inter-device fabric links.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is H3C-FTM-MIB?

This H3C vendor MIB supports Fabric Topology Management (FTM) for H3C's IRF (Intelligent Resilient Framework) stacking technology, which lets multiple physical switches operate as a single logical fabric/stack. It exposes unit-level identity data (unit ID, unit name) and fabric authentication settings governing how member switches join and authenticate within the IRF fabric. Its monitoring value is centered on the software/topology health of the stack, confirming each stack member's identity and authentication status to detect misconfigured or unauthorized units attempting to join the fabric, which is essential for stack stability and security. It is tightly coupled to H3C's proprietary IRF stacking architecture and likely depends on or complements other H3C stack-management MIBs. It is deployed on H3C switches configured in an IRF stack/fabric topology in enterprise or data center networks. Engineers can download the H3C-FTM-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in H3C-FTM-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • H3C switches configured in IRF (Intelligent Resilient Framework) stacking mode

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll unit-id and unit-name objects to confirm all expected member switches are correctly recognized within the IRF fabric topology. Fabric authentication status objects would be checked to verify a new member switch properly authenticated before joining the stack, flagging any unit that failed authentication as a potential misconfiguration or security concern. Unexpected changes in unit membership detected via this MIB would prompt investigation into a possible split-fabric or cabling issue between stack members.

What Can Be Monitored

  • stack unit ID and name
  • fabric authentication status
  • IRF stack membership
  • fabric topology state
