Description: Manages 802.11 Wireless Intrusion Prevention System (WIPS) policies and countermeasures on H3C controllers.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HH3C-DOT11-WIPS-MIB?

HH3C-DOT11-WIPS-MIB is an H3C (Huawei-3Com heritage) enterprise MIB for configuring and managing the Wireless Intrusion Prevention System (WIPS) feature on H3C wireless LAN controllers, which detects and counters malicious wireless activity such as rogue APs and attacks. It exposes per-VSD (virtual service domain / SSID-like grouping) WIPS policy configuration, including detection, countermeasure, signature, and classification policy assignments, as well as per-AP WIPS policy binding. Rather than classic hardware health telemetry, this MIB's monitoring value is in security/operational status: tracking which detection and countermeasure policies are active per VSD/AP lets an administrator confirm WIPS protection is correctly enabled and catch a policy that was inadvertently disabled or misconfigured, leaving the wireless network exposed. It builds on standard IEEE 802.11 wireless concepts but is an H3C-proprietary extension for its WLAN controller product line. It is deployed on H3C wireless LAN controllers managing fleets of access points in enterprise campus wireless deployments. Engineers can download the HH3C-DOT11-WIPS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HH3C-DOT11-WIPS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • H3C wireless LAN controllers
  • H3C-managed access points

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would check hh3cDot11WIPSVsdTable/hh3cDot11WIPSVsdEntry for hh3cDot11WIPSVsdDetectPolicy, hh3cDot11WIPSVsdCtmPolicy (countermeasure), hh3cDot11WIPSVsdSignaturePolicy, and hh3cDot11WIPSVsdClasPolicy to confirm each VSD has the intended intrusion-prevention policies attached. hh3cDot11WIPSAp2VsdTable/hh3cDot11WIPSAp2VsdEntry, keyed by hh3cDot11WIPSAp2VsdApName, shows which access point is bound to which VSD, and hh3cDot11WIPSVsdRowStatus reveals whether a policy entry is active, useful for spotting a VSD whose WIPS protection was left disabled.

What Can Be Monitored

  • WIPS detection policy assignment
  • countermeasure policy assignment
  • signature/classification policy assignment
  • AP-to-VSD binding
  • policy row status (enabled/disabled)
