Description: MICROSENS G6 switch MIB for VLAN configuration, port membership, and 802.1Q tagging management.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is G6-VLAN-MIB?

G6-VLAN-MIB is a MICROSENS private MIB for Generation 6 Ethernet switches covering VLAN configuration, including 802.1Q filtering, per-purpose VLAN IDs (management, voice, RSTP, unauthorized/guest, SmartOffice), and per-port VLAN membership. It exposes a global VLAN filtering enable flag, an ID-configuration table assigning special-purpose VLAN IDs, and a port configuration table for VLAN membership/tagging per port. This is a configuration-status MIB useful for confirming VLAN segmentation is correctly applied, particularly whether management traffic, voice traffic, and spanning-tree traffic are isolated onto their intended VLANs. It naturally interoperates with G6-PORT-MIB (port identity) and standard 802.1Q concepts, though not explicitly stated as a formal MIB dependency. It is deployed on MICROSENS G6 switches in any network segmented by VLANs for security or traffic-separation purposes. Engineers can download the G6-VLAN-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in G6-VLAN-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • MICROSENS G6 Ethernet switch

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would check vlanEnableVlanFiltering and vlanIdConfigManagementVlanId in vlanIdConfigTable to confirm management traffic is isolated to the correct VLAN, and vlanIdConfigVoiceVlanId to verify VoIP phones are being placed on the voice VLAN as expected. vlanIdConfigUnauthorizedVlanId would be checked when investigating why an unauthenticated device landed on an unexpected VLAN, and portConfigTable would be reviewed to confirm a specific port's VLAN membership matches intended design. vlanIdConfigRstpVlanId ties VLAN assignment to the spanning-tree configuration.

What Can Be Monitored

  • VLAN filtering enable state
  • management/voice/RSTP VLAN assignment
  • unauthorized/guest VLAN assignment
  • per-port VLAN membership
