Description: MICROSENS G6 switch MIB providing miscellaneous system management objects not covered by dedicated MIBs.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is G6-MISC-MIB?

G6-MISC-MIB is a MICROSENS private MIB for the Generation 6 switch family that collects miscellaneous system configuration objects not covered by the other dedicated G6 MIBs, most notably terminal server (serial-over-IP) settings. It exposes a table of terminal server configuration entries covering device name, operating mode, remote IP and TCP port, inactivity timeout, and serial line parameters (data rate, data bits, parity, stop bits). Its monitoring/configuration value is centered on the switch's serial console redirection feature, letting an admin verify a connected serial device is reachable over the network with matching line settings, which is a software/configuration-status concern rather than physical hardware health. No explicit dependency on other MIBs is indicated; it is a catch-all module within the broader G6 private MIB suite. It is deployed on MICROSENS G6-series switches used to provide network access to serial-console-managed equipment in industrial or infrastructure settings. Engineers can download the G6-MISC-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in G6-MISC-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • MICROSENS G6-series Ethernet switch

Monitoring Examples

An admin would poll terminalServerConfigTable/terminalServerConfigEntry via terminalServerConfigRemoteIp and terminalServerConfigTcpPort to confirm a serial device is reachable at the expected network address, and check terminalServerConfigDataRate, terminalServerConfigDatabits, and terminalServerConfigParity against the connected equipment's serial settings if the console session shows garbled output. terminalServerConfigInactivityTimeout would be checked if sessions are dropping unexpectedly soon.

What Can Be Monitored

  • terminal server (serial-over-IP) configuration
  • remote IP/TCP port for serial redirection
  • serial line parameters (baud rate, parity, stop bits)
  • inactivity timeout
