Description: MICROSENS G6 switch MIB for MAC address table management, aging, and static entry configuration.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is G6-MAC-MIB?

G6-MAC-MIB is a MICROSENS private MIB for the company's Generation 6 (G6) Ethernet switch line, covering Layer 2 MAC address table management including filtering, aging, and static/multicast entry configuration. It exposes objects for per-port and per-VLAN MAC filtering, multicast MAC-to-VLAN/port mapping, MAC table clearing actions, and global aging timer and entry-count settings. While primarily a configuration MIB, macNumberOfEntries and the table-clear actions give administrators visibility into MAC table utilization, letting them react to table-full conditions or stale/incorrect entries, effectively a software-state monitoring role for the switch's forwarding database. It is a standalone vendor-private MIB without notable dependency on standard bridge MIBs beyond general SNMP conventions. It is deployed on MICROSENS G6-series managed Ethernet switches in industrial or building network environments, typically managed via a G6-MAC-MIB MIB Browser for direct inspection of these objects.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in G6-MAC-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • MICROSENS G6-series managed Ethernet switch

Monitoring Examples

An admin can poll macNumberOfEntries to track how full the MAC address table is, alerting if it approaches switch capacity limits. Reviewing macFilterPort/macFilterMac entries alongside macGlobalAgingTime helps diagnose why a device's traffic is being blocked or why stale MAC entries are lingering, and macClearLearnedMacTable/macClearMacTableForVlan can be invoked to force a MAC table flush during troubleshooting.

What Can Be Monitored

  • MAC address table entry count
  • MAC filter rules per port/VLAN
  • MAC aging time
  • multicast MAC-to-VLAN mapping
