Description: FspR7-SPEQ-MIB module

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is FspR7-SPEQ-MIB?

FspR7-SPEQ-MIB is a Fujitsu private MIB (part of the FLASHWAVE/FSP optical transport product family, indicated by the FspR7 prefix) covering Automatic Span Equalization (SPEQ) -- the process by which optical amplifiers automatically balance signal levels across a DWDM span. It exposes entity-inventory style data: a table of SPEQ-related entities, their containment relationships, class and instance numbers, and associated configuration objects. In monitoring terms this MIB is used to track the software/hardware configuration status of the span-equalization function on optical line cards or amplifier modules, rather than classic system health counters like CPU or temperature, though equalization status can indirectly reflect the state of optical hardware. It relies on the ENTITY-MIB-style containment model (speqEntityContainedIn) common to Fujitsu's optical management MIBs. It is typically deployed in carrier/service-provider DWDM optical transport networks running Fujitsu FLASHWAVE equipment, where FspR7-SPEQ-MIB SNMP monitoring tracks span-equalization configuration status.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in FspR7-SPEQ-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • ADVA FSP3000R7 DWDM transport platform (Automatic Span Equalization) — Identified via the ORGANIZATION field ('ADVA AG Optical Networking') and its FspR7-MIB/ADVA-MIB imports (shared with sibling FspR7-MIB and FspR7-LAYER2-MIB), not Fujitsu FLASHWAVE as previously described — 'FSP' is ADVA's product prefix, unrelated to Fujitsu's FLASHWAVE line.

Monitoring Examples

An operator would walk speqEntityTable/speqEntityEntry, using speqEntityIndex and speqEntityContainedIn to map which SPEQ entities belong to which optical shelf or amplifier, and speqEntityClassInstanceNumber to identify the specific instance. The companion speqContainsTable/speqContainsEntry describes containment relationships, while speqConfigTable/speqConfiguration hold the actual equalization settings. An unexpected change in speqDynamicComp or a missing entry in speqConfigTable for an expected amplifier could indicate a span equalization fault or a misconfigured optical component.

What Can Be Monitored

  • SPAN equalization entity inventory
  • entity containment hierarchy
  • entity class/instance number
  • span equalization configuration
