What Is FSS-COMMON-SMI?
FSS-COMMON-SMI is a Fujitsu Network Communications enterprise MIB that defines the base-level headers and Structure of Management Information for the Fujitsu FSS (network communications) product tree, serving as the OID registration root for that branch. It exposes no runtime hardware or software status data itself - its purpose is to collect and organize the OID tree of base objects (including a 'product' identification node) beneath which Fujitsu's operational FSS MIBs attach their monitoring objects. Anyone browsing the FSS-COMMON-SMI OID list will find only these structural headers and the product node, since hardware/software status monitoring - such as system uptime, alarms, or transport equipment state on Fujitsu network communications gear - would be exposed by the companion operational MIBs that register under this root rather than by this module directly. It depends on standard SNMPv2-SMI enterprise-numbering conventions and is a foundational dependency for other FSS-family MIBs. It is deployed as a structural prerequisite when managing Fujitsu Network Communications transport/networking equipment via SNMP.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in FSS-COMMON-SMI. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Fujitsu 1FINITY T600 — current transport blade in Fujitsu Network Communications' 1FINITY packet-optical platform
Monitoring Examples
The module defines a 'product' OID node and other base headers but no operational tables or scalars, so there is nothing to poll directly for live status. An administrator managing Fujitsu FSS equipment would instead monitor the companion FSS operational MIBs that register their alarm, performance, or configuration tables beneath the product node this module establishes. This module's role is purely structural, organizing where those objects live in the OID tree.
