Description: FreeRADIUS product registration MIB providing SMUX-based SNMP subagent product identity registration for the radiusd authentication daemon.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is FREERADIUS-PRODUCT-RADIUSD-MIB?
FREERADIUS-PRODUCT-RADIUSD-MIB is a small vendor-neutral (open-source) registration MIB that defines the SMUX-based product identity objects for the FreeRADIUS radiusd SNMP subagent. It exposes configuration-name, module-name, and module-instance identity objects used to uniquely register the FreeRADIUS subagent when it connects to a master SNMP agent via SMUX. It has minimal direct hardware/software status monitoring value on its own; instead it lets a management station confirm which FreeRADIUS configuration and module instance a given SNMP subagent connection corresponds to, which is prerequisite context for interpreting data from the companion FREERADIUS-NOTIFICATION-MIB. It is explicitly designed to be used alongside FREERADIUS-NOTIFICATION-MIB and the SMUX subagent protocol. It is deployed on Linux/Unix servers running FreeRADIUS wherever the daemon is configured as an SNMP SMUX subagent. Engineers implementing or auditing this functionality typically reference the FREERADIUS-PRODUCT-RADIUSD-MIB RFC/standard documentation for the authoritative specification.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in FREERADIUS-PRODUCT-RADIUSD-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- vendor-neutral (open-source), Linux/Unix server running FreeRADIUS
Monitoring Examples
A management station connecting to the FreeRADIUS SMUX subagent would read radiusdConfigName to confirm which FreeRADIUS configuration file/instance it is talking to, and radiusdModuleName/radiusdModuleInstance to identify which specific module instance (e.g., a particular authentication module) registered that subagent connection. There are no performance counters here — this module is purely identity/registration data used to disambiguate multiple FreeRADIUS instances or modules reporting over SNMP.
What Can Be Monitored
- configuration/instance name
- module name
- module instance identity
