Description: Dell Force10 Networks system component MIB providing inventory and status objects for chassis modules, line cards, and FPGAs.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is FORCE10-SYSTEM-COMPONENT-MIB?

FORCE10-SYSTEM-COMPONENT-MIB is a Dell Inc (Force10 Networks, Dell Networking OS) proprietary MIB reporting CAM (Content-Addressable Memory, hardware forwarding-table) usage per line card. Its overall CAM-usage table, keyed by slot/pipe/partition, records partition description and total/used entries, while an L2-specific table breaks out ingress/egress ACL and ingress FIB (forwarding information base) usage by slot/pipe, and an L3 table covers ingress FIB and ingress system-flow usage. As a hardware-performance MIB it lets an administrator watch hardware CAM-table utilization per line card to catch an approaching forwarding-table exhaustion before routes/ACLs start being rejected. It is deployed on Dell Force10 (Dell Networking OS) switches/routers. Engineers can download the FORCE10-SYSTEM-COMPONENT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in FORCE10-SYSTEM-COMPONENT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Dell Force10 (Dell Networking OS) switches/routers

Monitoring Examples

An administrator monitors camUsageL3IngFibUsed against camUsageL3Table's total to catch approaching FIB exhaustion on a Dell Force10 line card before new routes are rejected.
