Category: RADIUS and AAA, Vendor: Juniper
Description: Funk Software Steel-Belted RADIUS server router MIB providing SNMP objects for monitoring and managing RADIUS authentication server operations.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is FNKSBRTR-MIB?
FNKSBRTR-MIB is Funk Software's proprietary MIB for its Steel-Belted RADIUS (SBR) server, providing SNMP objects for monitoring and managing RADIUS authentication server operations, per its short description; no object names or module description text were captured in the source. Such RADIUS server MIBs typically expose general categories including server operational status, authentication/accounting request and response counters, and RADIUS client configuration data. In monitoring terms it would be used to track the software service status of the RADIUS server process, i.e. whether it is running and processing requests, and performance counters such as accept/reject/timeout counts, which matters since many network devices depend on this server for AAA. There is a clear dependency on the standard RADIUS protocol (RFC 2865/2866) as the service being managed. It is deployed on servers running Funk Software (later Juniper) Steel-Belted RADIUS, used as a centralized AAA authentication server for network access devices such as VPN concentrators, wireless controllers, and switches, all monitored remotely through the FNKSBRTR-MIB MIB.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in FNKSBRTR-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- server running Funk Software / Juniper Steel-Belted RADIUS (SBR)
Monitoring Examples
No object or table names were available in the source for this module, so specific identifiers cannot be cited. Based on the module's stated purpose, a realistic scenario would involve polling RADIUS request/accept/reject counters to detect a spike in authentication failures or a stalled server process, but this cannot be confirmed against real object names from the available data.
