Description: F5 BIG-IQ centralized management platform MIB for managing and monitoring multiple BIG-IP devices from a single pane.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is F5-BIGIQ-MIB?

F5-BIGIQ-MIB defines the top-level MIB tree for F5's BIG-IQ centralized management platform, which manages and monitors a fleet of BIG-IP devices from a single console. It exposes a device inventory table for each managed BIG-IP device (name, address, availability) and a parallel peer-device table for BIG-IQ high-availability peers, along with device-level alert objects. Its primary monitoring purpose is fleet-wide software/hardware status visibility: whether each managed BIG-IP device is currently reachable and available (deviceAvailability), and whether alerts have been raised against any managed or peer device that need administrative attention. Because BIG-IQ manages BIG-IP appliances, this MIB is used alongside the BIG-IP LTM and other F5 device MIBs, which supply the underlying per-device metrics that BIG-IQ aggregates. The F5-BIGIQ-MIB MIB is deployed in environments running multiple F5 BIG-IP devices where centralized configuration and health monitoring across the fleet is required.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in F5-BIGIQ-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • F5 BIG-IQ centralized management platform (managing fleets of BIG-IP appliances)

Monitoring Examples

An operator would poll deviceEntryTable/deviceEntry for each deviceName, checking deviceAvailability and deviceAddress to identify any managed BIG-IP device that has dropped out of contact with the BIG-IQ manager. The peerDeviceEntryTable and peerDeviceAvailability objects would similarly be checked to confirm BIG-IQ HA peers remain reachable for management redundancy. A bigiqDeviceAlert firing against a particular device number would prompt drilling into that device's own BIG-IP MIB data to find the underlying cause.

What Can Be Monitored

  • managed device availability/reachability
  • managed device inventory (name, address)
  • BIG-IQ peer device availability
  • device-level alerts
