Description: Extreme Networks' Universal Port Manager (UPM) MIB, covering event-driven scripting and automated port configuration profiles.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is EXTREME-UPM-MIB?
EXTREME-UPM-MIB is an Extreme Networks MIB for Universal Port Manager (UPM), a feature that runs event-triggered scripts to automatically reconfigure switch ports, such as applying a profile when a device is detected on a port. It exposes objects describing configured profiles (upmProfileName, upmProfileExecVars), execution instances (upmExecutionId, upmExecutionStatus), the triggering event type (upmEventType) and target port (upmPort), plus timer objects (upmTimerName) and a notification trap (upmNotificationTrap) for execution events. Its monitoring value centers on automation/software-status visibility rather than physical hardware sensors: administrators track whether UPM script executions succeeded or failed, which port and event triggered them, and receive traps when executions complete, catching failed automated provisioning such as a port profile that didn't apply. It depends on the switch's underlying port/interface indexing to associate executions with physical ports. It is deployed on Extreme Networks switches using UPM for dynamic, event-driven port configuration such as auto-provisioning VoIP phones or IoT devices. Engineers can download the EXTREME-UPM-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in EXTREME-UPM-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Extreme Networks switch (UPM-capable)
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll upmExecutionStatus for a given upmExecutionId to confirm a UPM script tied to upmProfileName completed successfully after upmEventType fired on upmPort, and would receive upmNotificationTrap on completion or failure. A stuck or failed execution status on a specific port indicates the automated profile push isn't applying, prompting review of upmProfileExecVars for that profile. upmTimerName objects would be checked if the profile includes a scheduled/delayed action that isn't firing as expected.
What Can Be Monitored
- UPM script/profile execution status
- triggering event type
- target port
- profile execution variables
- UPM notification traps
