Organization: D-Link, Inc.

Last Updated: 2000-07-15

Category: SNMP Framework

Description: Defines base SNMP agent management objects for monitoring agent operation, resource usage, and protocol statistics.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is AGENT-MIB?

AGENT-MIB is a D-Link, Inc. proprietary MIB (Structure of Common Management Information for the D-Link enterprise) reporting SNMP agent capability, port utilization, and firmware-file transfer status. Its objects cover management-protocol capability, a capability table (index, description, version, type), console-in-use and save-config/file-transfer status flags, a port-utilization table (protocol index, TX/RX rate, utilization percent), and a basic-software-file table (index, description, address, transfer type, file, locate ID, load type). As a status/configuration MIB it lets an administrator confirm agent capability and watch port utilization or an in-progress firmware transfer on a D-Link switch. It is deployed on D-Link managed switches. Engineers can download the AGENT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in AGENT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • D-Link managed switches

Monitoring Examples

An administrator checks agentStatusFileTransfer to confirm a firmware upload is in progress, and agentPORTutilizationUtil to watch port load on a D-Link switch.
