Organization: MIB Testers

Last Updated: 1996-02-01

Category: Device Management, Vendor: Eltex

Description: Provides SNMP management objects for EX02-series or Generation 2 network equipment.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is EX02-MIB?

EX02-MIB is explicitly a test MIB module, per its own module description, written to demonstrate SMIv2 constructs that are syntactically valid in SMI but not valid in plain ASN.1 — it does not model any real vendor product or network device. It defines only a trivial placeholder table with generic columns used purely to exercise MIB-compiler behavior. Because it is a test fixture, it has no hardware/software monitoring value whatsoever — no uptime, temperature, load, or fault data is represented. It has no meaningful dependency on other MIBs or standards beyond base SNMPv2-SMI conventions. Its typical 'deployment' context is as a regression-test artifact for MIB compilers and tooling (such as PySMI or similar SMI parsers), never as a MIB loaded against a live network device — this EX02-MIB reference exists purely to validate compiler edge-case handling.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in EX02-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • none — test/example MIB used for SMI compiler validation, not a real device

Monitoring Examples

This module is a compiler test fixture rather than a device MIB — its aTable/aEntry defines placeholder columns aIndex, aOct1, aOct2, and aInt1 purely to exercise legal SMI syntax edge cases (alongside a standalone ex01Test object). There is no realistic monitoring scenario to describe honestly since nothing here corresponds to real hardware or software state.
