Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is JUNIPER-LICENSE-MIB?

JUNIPER-LICENSE-MIB is a Juniper Networks enterprise MIB that provides managed objects for software license key management and feature entitlement tracking on Junos devices. It exposes jnxLicenseInstallTable, listing each installed license by jnxLicenseId along with jnxLicenseVersion, jnxLicenseDeviceId, jnxLicenseType (count-down, date-based, or permanent), and the raw jnxLicenseKeys; and jnxLicenseFeatureListTable, which maps licensable features to usage counters (jnxLicenseFeatureLicenseUsed, jnxLicenseFeatureLicenseInstalled, jnxLicenseFeatureLicenseNeeded). Configuration objects (jnxLicenseRenewBeforExpiration, jnxLicenseRenewInterval, jnxLicenseAutoUpdate) govern automatic renewal behavior against a license server. Five notification types (jnxLicenseGraceExpired, jnxLicenseGraceAboutToExpire, jnxLicenseAboutToExpire, jnxLicenseInfringeCumulative, jnxLicenseInfringeSingle) let an NMS learn about license expiry or feature-usage infringement without polling. It is a software/licensing-focused MIB rather than a hardware-sensor MIB, deployed on any Juniper router or switch that gates optional features behind license keys, and administrators can download the JUNIPER-LICENSE-MIB file to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in JUNIPER-LICENSE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Juniper Networks routers and switches (Junos-based)

Monitoring Examples

An operator polls jnxLicenseFeatureLicenseUsed against jnxLicenseFeatureLicenseInstalled for a given jnxLicenseFeatureId to check whether a feature is nearing its licensed capacity, and watches for jnxLicenseInfringeCumulative traps; used licenses exceeding installed licenses combined with an infringement trap would indicate the device is running a feature beyond its purchased entitlement.

What Can Be Monitored

  • installed license inventory and type
  • per-feature license usage/installed/needed counts
  • license renewal interval and auto-update URL
  • license grace-period expiry notifications
  • license infringement notifications
