Category: Vendor: Ericsson

Description: Defines shared textual conventions used across multiple Ericsson product-line MIB modules.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ERICSSON-TC-MIB?

ERICSSON-TC-MIB is an Ericsson AB vendor-specific textual-conventions-only MIB (no OBJECT-TYPE definitions of its own) that defines shared SMIv2 TEXTUAL-CONVENTION types intended for reuse across Ericsson's many product-line MIB modules, easing integration and consistent SNMP development within the Ericsson group. Its single defined type, EriMO, represents a Managed Object identifier using the 3GPP relative-distinguished-name naming convention (per 3GPP TS 32.106-8), constrained to an OCTET STRING of 4 to 150 characters, intended to guarantee unique alarm-state and resource identification relative to a node's own root. Because it contains no scalars, tables, or notifications of its own, this MIB has no monitoring value in isolation — its purpose is purely to be imported by other Ericsson product MIBs that need a standard 3GPP-style managed-object-name type for alarm or inventory objects. It depends on ERICSSON-TOP-MIB for the ericssonModules parent subtree and is a foundational dependency module rather than something deployed against a specific device; engineers working with any Ericsson product MIB that imports EriMO should keep the ERICSSON-TC-MIB module on hand as a reference.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ERICSSON-TC-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Ericsson network elements (dependency MIB used by other Ericsson product MIBs)

Monitoring Examples

A downstream Ericsson product MIB defines an alarm object typed as EriMO to hold the 3GPP-format relative distinguished name of the specific managed resource an alarm applies to; an operator reading that alarm object's EriMO value can trace it back to the exact network element without needing vendor-specific OID mapping tables.

What Can Be Monitored

  • EriMO managed-object-name type usage in dependent MIBs
  • 3GPP relative distinguished name formatting compliance
  • consistency of managed-object identification across Ericsson product MIBs
