Description: Reports alarms and fault notifications related to chassis stacking interconnects on Ericsson routers.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ERICSSON-ROUTER-STACKING-ALARM-MIB?
This is an Ericsson enterprise MIB for SmartEdge/SM/SSR platforms that report faults related to chassis stacking interconnects, where multiple physical chassis operate as one logical router. It exposes fault/alarm notification data for stacking events, keyed by stack and chassis identifiers, explicitly to support hardware fault monitoring of the stacking interconnect fabric. Its alarm severity, probable-cause, and event-type objects let an operator detect a failing stack member or interconnect link before it causes a chassis to drop out of the stack. It is a fault-management companion to Ericsson's stacking/chassis architecture rather than a standards-based MIB, so it has no notable external MIB dependency beyond common alarm conventions. It is deployed on stacked Ericsson SmartEdge/SSR chassis configurations in carrier and metro-Ethernet networks. Engineers can download the ERICSSON-ROUTER-STACKING-ALARM-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ERICSSON-ROUTER-STACKING-ALARM-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Ericsson SmartEdge (MSER) router
- Ericsson Smart Service Router (SSR)
- Ericsson SM Metro Ethernet platform
Monitoring Examples
Notifications from eriRouterStackingAlarmNotifications carry varbinds such as eriRouterStackingAlarmEventStackId, eriRouterStackingAlarmEventChassisUID, eriRouterStackingAlarmEventSeverity, eriRouterStackingAlarmEventProbableCause, and eriRouterStackingAlarmEventDateAndTime. An operator receiving a critical-severity trap for a specific chassisUID within a stack would immediately know which stack member has an interconnect fault, versus a benign minor-severity event captured in eriRouterStackingAlarmEventMinorType.
What Can Be Monitored
- stacking alarm events by stack/chassis ID
- alarm severity and probable cause
- alarm event timestamp
- stacking alarm minor type and additional text
