Description: Top-level registration MIB providing the OID hierarchy root for all Ericsson Router MIB modules.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ERICSSON-ROUTER-MASTER-MIB?

ERICSSON-ROUTER-MASTER-MIB is a top-level registration MIB from Ericsson for its router product line, providing the OID hierarchy root under which all other Ericsson Router MIB modules register their object trees, rather than defining monitorable data itself. It is built around the AgentX master agent architecture, exposing a small number of objects related to AgentX session management, such as the reason an AgentX subagent session was closed. Its practical use is more structural/software-plane than data-plane: it helps a management station understand the AgentX master-agent relationship and diagnose why a subagent module lost its registration, which indirectly reflects the health of the modular SNMP agent process on the router. It is fundamentally dependent on the IETF AgentX protocol (RFC 2741) for its session-management semantics. It is deployed as a foundational module wherever Ericsson router SNMP agents use a modular AgentX architecture, alongside the vendor's other function-specific Ericsson Router MIBs. Engineers can download the ERICSSON-ROUTER-MASTER-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ERICSSON-ROUTER-MASTER-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Ericsson router (modular AgentX-based SNMP agent)

Monitoring Examples

An admin troubleshooting a missing set of MIB objects from an Ericsson router's SNMP agent would check eriRouterAgentxSessionCloseReason to determine why a particular AgentX subagent (which would have implemented those objects) disconnected from the eriRouterMasteragent, for example due to a timeout or protocol error. Because this module defines only the registration root and AgentX session-management objects rather than device data tables, there is no broader hardware/traffic monitoring scenario to describe beyond this agent-health diagnostic.

What Can Be Monitored

  • AgentX subagent session close reason
  • AgentX master agent registration point
