Description: Network Technologies Inc. E-MICRO environmental monitoring MIB for compact sensor units tracking temperature and humidity.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ENVIROMUXMICRO-MIB?

This is a MIB from Network Technologies Inc. (NTI) for the E-MICRO, a compact environmental monitoring appliance in the NTI Enviromux product family. It exposes environmental sensor data organized into internal and external sensor tables, each carrying a sensor index, type, textual description, measured value, and unit of measurement. Its entire purpose is monitoring physical environmental conditions such as temperature and humidity around IT equipment, making it a hardware-status MIB centered on sensor health and readings rather than network protocol state. No dependency on another standard MIB is apparent; it operates as a vendor-specific, self-contained sensor MIB. It is deployed in data centers, server rooms, and equipment closets where an E-MICRO unit provides low-cost environmental monitoring alongside or in place of larger Enviromux appliances. Engineers can download the ENVIROMUXMICRO-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ENVIROMUXMICRO-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • NTI Enviromux E-MICRO environmental monitoring appliance

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll intSensorTable / intSensorEntry to read the built-in sensor's intSensorValue together with intSensorUnit and intSensorType, catching a temperature reading that exceeds a safe threshold inside an equipment enclosure. Separately, extSensorTable / extSensorEntry covers pluggable external probes, so extSensorValue on an external humidity probe rising above expected levels would flag a leak or HVAC failure in a nearby server room, with extSensorDescription identifying which physical probe triggered the alert.

What Can Be Monitored

  • internal sensor value and unit
  • internal sensor type/description
  • external sensor value and unit
  • external sensor type/description

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Example using intSensorValue OID:

Select an NTI Enviromux E-MICRO environmental monitoring appliance as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type intSensorValue into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, selecting the specific row/instance you want to monitor since this is a table column, then select it and click OK. The value of the integrated sensor reading. For temperature, voltage, current or low voltage, it is presented in tenths of degrees/volts. On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is an Integer32-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the reported value exceeds the level expected for healthy operation, since sustained high temperature often precedes thermal shutdown or hardware degradation. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
