Description: Extreme/Enterasys Networks MIB for managing wireless station location tracking and localization application configuration.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ENTERASYS-STATION-LOCATION-MIB?

ENTERASYS-STATION-LOCATION-MIB is an Enterasys/Extreme Networks MIB for managing the wireless station location/localization application used with wireless controllers to estimate the physical position of associated or tracked Wi-Fi stations. It exposes configuration objects for the location engine (enable state, auto-tracking, global AP height assumption) and a floor table describing building floors, including floor identifiers, names, and the number of access points assigned to each floor. Its monitoring focus is software-feature status rather than hardware health: whether the location engine is enabled and running, and how the floor plan configuration used for triangulation is structured. It has no explicit dependency on another standard MIB, functioning as a self-contained application-configuration module layered on top of the vendor's wireless controller and AP MIBs. It is deployed in enterprise wireless deployments needing real-time or historical asset/station location tracking, such as large campuses or warehouses. Engineers can download the ENTERASYS-STATION-LOCATION-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ENTERASYS-STATION-LOCATION-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Enterasys/Extreme Networks wireless controllers and access points

Monitoring Examples

An admin would check etsysLocationEngineEnable and etsysLocationEngineAutoTrkEnable to confirm the location engine and automatic tracking are running, then walk etsysFloorTable/etsysFloorEntry to verify each etsysFloorName has the expected etsysFloorNumberOfAPs for accurate triangulation. If etsysLocationFloorConfigured is below etsysLocationMaxFloorLimit but the actual site has more floors, that would reveal an incomplete localization deployment.

What Can Be Monitored

  • location engine enable state
  • auto-tracking status
  • configured floor count vs. limit
  • APs assigned per floor
  • global AP height setting
