Description: Enterprise dial management MIB providing objects for monitoring and configuring dial-up interface connections and call statistics.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is EDIAL-MIB?
This enterprise MIB defines management information common to all elements of an "eDial" system, a dial-up/telephony-oriented network element platform. It exposes general system identification data (systemName) and fault-reporting objects (problemText, timeStamp, msgString) under a "systemFaults"/"faultFields" structure, providing a generic alarm/event-reporting framework shared across the eDial product's element types. As a fault-monitoring MIB its core purpose is software/system status: it lets an administrator retrieve a timestamped, human-readable fault description (timeStamp, problemText, msgString) whenever the eDial system detects a problem, functioning much like a generic event log exposed via SNMP. Its "common" naming and fault-fields structure imply it is a base module extended or referenced by other, more specific eDial element MIBs. It is deployed within an eDial dial-up access system, where an NMS would poll or receive traps carrying these fault fields for centralized alerting. Engineers can download the EDIAL-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in EDIAL-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- eDial dial-up/telephony access system element
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll or receive a trap containing systemFaults/faultFields objects, reading timeStamp and problemText to determine when and what fault occurred, and msgString for additional detail, correlated with systemName to identify which eDial system element raised it. A non-empty problemText combined with a recent timeStamp would indicate an active, unacknowledged fault condition on the eDial system requiring investigation.
What Can Be Monitored
- system name
- fault timestamp
- fault/problem description text
- fault message string
