Description: Manages route policy and route map configuration for routing protocol filtering on Dell DNOS devices.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is DNOS-ROUTE-POLICY-MIB?
DNOS-ROUTE-POLICY-MIB manages route policy and route-map configuration for routing-protocol filtering on Dell Networking OS (DNOS, formerly Dell Force10) switches and routers. It defines objects for route-policy statements, match/action sequencing, and per-interface application of route policies, governing how routes are filtered or modified as they are redistributed between protocols. Its monitoring value is largely configuration/software-state based: confirming which route-policy statements and sequences are active, their action types, and which interfaces have policies applied, helping diagnose routes being unexpectedly permitted, denied, or modified. It works alongside DNOS's broader routing MIBs (BGP, OSPF), since route policies are typically referenced from those protocols' redistribution configuration. It is deployed on Dell EMC Networking switches/routers running DNOS in enterprise and data-center environments, where network engineers typically load it into a DNOS-ROUTE-POLICY-MIB MIB Browser session to review the full object tree before applying policy changes.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in DNOS-ROUTE-POLICY-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Dell EMC Networking (DNOS/Force10) switches and routers
Monitoring Examples
An administrator can inspect fastpathRoutePolicyStatementEntry for a given fastpathRoutePolicySequence to see the configured fastpathRoutePolicyStmtActionType (permit or deny), and check fastpathRoutePolicyIfTable/fastpathRoutePolicyIfEntry's fastpathRoutePolicyIfRowStatus to confirm a policy is actually applied to an interface. If routes that should be filtered are still being advertised, a mismatched or missing row in fastpathRoutePolicyIfTable is a likely cause.
What Can Be Monitored
- route policy statement configuration
- route policy action type
- policy sequence ordering
- per-interface policy application status
