Description: Manages application-level features and software components running on D-Link 3100 series switch platforms.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is DLINK-3100-rndApplications?

This is a D-Link proprietary MIB for the 3100 series switch platform, covering an embedded RND applications monitoring subsystem, essentially a lightweight built-in network element monitor. It exposes configuration for polling other network elements (target addresses, SNMP community, polling interval) and alarm settings (enable, interval, options), plus tables tracking the status of each monitored element. Its core purpose is monitoring: it lets the switch itself poll remote elements' object identifiers on a schedule and raise alarms based on their status, effectively giving the switch a secondary role as a mini NMS for the elements it watches, in addition to reporting its own alarm state. It is a self-contained vendor feature rather than one built directly on standard IETF monitoring MIBs, though its concept parallels RMON-style remote monitoring. It would be used where a 3100 series switch is configured to watch a handful of critical neighboring devices or objects, with DLINK-3100-rndApplications SNMP monitoring generating alarms/logs when they fail to respond or their monitored value changes.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in DLINK-3100-rndApplications. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • D-Link 3100 series managed switch

Monitoring Examples

An admin can populate rndMonitoredElementsTable/rndMonitoredElementEntry with a target rndMonitoredElementAddress, rndMonitoredElementCommunity, and rndMonitoredObjectIdentifier to have the switch periodically poll that OID at rndDefaultPollingInterval, then check rndMonitoredElementStatus to see if the last poll succeeded. rndAlarmEnabling and rndAlarmInterval control whether and how often alarms fire when a monitored element's status changes, with results optionally written to rndDefaultLogFile. If rndMonitoredElementStatus shows a persistent failure, it usually means the target device stopped responding to SNMP or its community string changed.

What Can Be Monitored

  • monitored remote element reachability/status
  • alarm enable state and interval
  • default polling interval
  • monitored object identifier value
