Category: Vendor: D-Link

Description: Defines SNMP trap and notification definitions for fault and event reporting on D-Link 3100 series switches.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is DLINK-3100-TRAPS-MIB?

This is a D-Link proprietary MIB module for the D-Link 3100 series switches that defines the set of SNMP traps/notifications the device can send, rather than any polled data objects. It belongs to the fault-management category, giving an NMS a standardized way to receive asynchronous alerts for events such as link state changes, configuration changes, security violations, or hardware faults on the switch. Because it carries no readable data objects of its own, its monitoring value comes entirely from trap reception; it is the channel through which hardware/software status changes (link down, power/fan issues, unauthorized access attempts, etc., as defined by the specific traps) are pushed to a management station in near real time rather than discovered by polling. It commonly depends on SNMPv2-TC/SNMPv2-SMI notification conventions and complements other DLINK-3100 MIBs that hold the actual status objects referenced by these traps. It is deployed alongside an SNMP trap receiver/NMS so operators get immediate notification of fault or event conditions on 3100 series switches without waiting for a polling cycle. Engineers can download the DLINK-3100-TRAPS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in DLINK-3100-TRAPS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • D-Link 3100 series managed switch

Monitoring Examples

No sample objects were provided for this module and it defines NOTIFICATION-TYPE entries rather than readable MIB objects, so there is no polling-based monitoring scenario to describe; its purpose is limited to defining trap PDUs that the switch emits (e.g., for link, security, or configuration events) for an NMS to receive and log.
