What Is DIGI-MOBILE-TRAPS-MIB?
DIGI-MOBILE-TRAPS-MIB is a Digi International enterprise MIB for Digi's cellular-equipped gateway and router products, defining the SNMP notifications (traps) generated by changes in cellular/mobile connectivity. It exposes a small set of generic name/value informational objects used to carry mobile interface details -- such as which cellular interface changed and an associated status value -- alongside the trap definitions themselves. Its monitoring emphasis is on connectivity/software status rather than physical hardware: it lets a management station learn, via traps, about cellular link state changes and signal quality events as they happen rather than requiring constant polling. Because its informational objects reuse an ifIndex-like interface numbering scheme, it has an implicit dependency on the standard IF-MIB interface indexing convention, and each DIGI-MOBILE-TRAPS-MIB OID for these trap and informational objects is registered under Digi's enterprise branch. It is deployed on Digi cellular routers/gateways used in remote or mobile connectivity scenarios (e.g., kiosks, vehicles, remote sites) where operators want immediate notification of cellular link problems.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in DIGI-MOBILE-TRAPS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Digi IX25 — current industrial cellular router platform, 4x GbE, centrally managed via Digi Remote Manager
- Digi TX54 — LTE-Advanced Pro mobile cellular router for public safety/transportation, FirstNet-certified
Monitoring Examples
A management station configured as a trap receiver would receive notifications carrying mobileInfoInterface (identifying which cellular interface, analogous to ifIndex), mobileInfoName, and mobileInfoValue, describing an event such as a signal-quality drop or a change in cellular connection state. Correlating a burst of these traps against a particular mobileInfoInterface would reveal an unstable or degraded cellular link on that specific interface. Because these are notification-carried objects rather than a polled table, monitoring here is event-driven: the operator watches for trap arrival rather than periodically walking a table.
What Can Be Monitored
- cellular interface connectivity events
- signal quality change notifications
- mobile interface status value
