Category: Domain: System Management, Vendor: Digi
Description: Digi device information MIB providing hardware model, firmware version, serial number, and product identification objects.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is DIGI-DEVICE-INFO-MIB?
DIGI-DEVICE-INFO-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB from Digi International providing basic device identification and resource-utilization data for its device server and gateway product line. It exposes product identity objects (model, physical/MAC address, firmware/boot/POST version) alongside runtime resource metrics for CPU and memory. This MIB is squarely a hardware/software status monitoring MIB: it explicitly reports diUpTime, diCpuUtilization, diTotalMemory, diFreeMemory, and diUsedMemory, making it directly useful for tracking device health, load, and memory pressure, as well as diFirmwareVersion/diBootVersion/diPostVersion for confirming software/firmware version compliance. It is a self-contained vendor MIB with no apparent dependency on standard MIBs beyond conventional SNMPv2 textual conventions. It is typically deployed for fleet monitoring of Digi serial-to-Ethernet device servers, cellular gateways, and console servers. Engineers can download the DIGI-DEVICE-INFO-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in DIGI-DEVICE-INFO-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Digi International device server/gateway
- Digi cellular/console gateway
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll diCpuUtilization and diFreeMemory/diUsedMemory periodically to detect a device under memory pressure or sustained high CPU load, which often precedes a reboot or hang. diUpTime reveals unexpected reboots when it resets to a low value between polls. diFirmwareVersion, diBootVersion, and diPostVersion would be checked across a fleet to confirm all Digi gateways are running the expected firmware version after a rollout.
What Can Be Monitored
- CPU utilization
- free/used/total memory
- device uptime
- firmware version
- boot loader/POST version
- product model and MAC address
