Category: Domain: Environmental Monitoring, Vendor: Didactum

Description: MIB for Didactum environmental monitoring systems covering temperature, humidity, power, and sensor status management.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is DIDACTUM-SYSTEM-MIB?

This is the system MIB for Didactum environmental monitoring units, modular hardware appliances used to watch conditions like temperature, humidity, and power in server rooms and equipment cabinets. It exposes data about the monitoring unit's plug-in sensor/control modules -- their identity, type, serial number, class, and current state -- along with logical groupings of modules and notifier/alert configuration. As a monitoring module its central purpose is hardware status monitoring: confirming each installed sensor or relay module is present, correctly identified, and reporting a healthy (versus fault or disconnected) state, which is exactly the kind of environmental/hardware health data these units exist to provide. It defines its own private object structure (ctlUnit, ctlNotifiers, ctlVirtualDevices) without an evident dependency on other standard MIBs beyond generic SNMP conventions. It is deployed in data centers, server rooms, and network/comms cabinets where Didactum monitoring units watch environmental and power conditions, polled or alerted via SNMP. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the DIDACTUM-SYSTEM-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in DIDACTUM-SYSTEM-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Didactum environmental monitoring control unit (modular temperature/humidity/power sensor hub)

Monitoring Examples

Polling ctlUnitModulesTable entries -- ctlUnitModuleType, ctlUnitModuleSN, and ctlUnitModuleState -- lets an administrator confirm which sensor or control modules (e.g. temperature, humidity, power) are physically installed on a given unit and whether each is reporting a healthy state; a module state that reports fault or absent would indicate a disconnected or failed sensor. ctlUnitGroupsTable lets modules be organized logically (for example, all sensors in a particular rack), while ctlNotifiers holds the alert/notification destinations that fire when a grouped sensor reports an out-of-range or fault condition.

What Can Be Monitored

  • installed module presence/type/serial number
  • module operational state (OK/fault)
  • module grouping
  • notifier/alert configuration
  • virtual device status
