Description: Manages software-based L2 switching features for D-Link DES-6500 chassis switch.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is DES6500-SWL2MGMT-MIB?
DES6500-SWL2MGMT-MIB is a D-Link vendor MIB providing software-based Layer 2 switching management for the D-Link DES-6500 chassis switch, a modular/chassis-based switch in D-Link's enterprise line. It exposes L2 switching feature configuration such as VLANs, port settings, and switching table state for a multi-slot chassis platform. For monitoring it is used to track the software configuration and operational status of switching features across chassis line cards/ports, and in a chassis context this is typically paired with hardware status monitoring of individual modules, power supplies, and fans. It is a proprietary enterprise MIB layered on standard MIB-II interface objects and IEEE 802.1Q/802.1D concepts, adapted for a chassis architecture with multiple slots/modules. It is deployed on D-Link DES-6500 modular chassis switches used as core or distribution switches in larger enterprise network environments. Engineers can download the DES6500-SWL2MGMT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in DES6500-SWL2MGMT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- D-Link DES-6500 modular chassis switch
Monitoring Examples
An operator managing a DES-6500 chassis would poll per-slot/per-port L2 configuration objects to confirm VLAN and switching settings are consistent across installed line cards, and check port state objects to identify a specific module or port that has gone down. Because it's a chassis platform, this L2 MIB would typically be polled alongside chassis hardware objects (module presence, power supply, and fan status) to build a complete health picture of the switch. A mismatch between expected and actual VLAN membership on a newly inserted line card would be a typical anomaly this MIB helps surface.
What Can Be Monitored
- VLAN configuration across chassis line cards
- per-port L2 switching status
- chassis module/port state
- switching table configuration

In case of IGMP timer expiration, the switch sends IGMP query packets to related VLAN member ports and increment this object by 1. |
| swL2IGMPSnoopingInfoTable | 1.3.6.1.4.1.171.11.78.1.2.11.5 | not-accessible | The table containing current IGMP information which captured by this device, provided that swL2DevCtrlIGMPSnooping and swL2IGMPCtrlState of associated VLAN entry are all enabled. Note that the priority of IGMP table entries is lower than Filtering Table, i.e. if there is a table hash collision between the entries of IGMP Table and Filtering Table inside the switch H/W address table, then Filtering Table entry overwrite the colliding entry of IGMP Table. See swL2FilterMgmt description also. | |
| swL2IGMPSnoopingInfoEntry | 1.3.6.1.4.1.171.11.78.1.2.11.5.1 | not-accessible | Information about current IGMP information which captured by this device, provided that swL2DevCtrlIGMPSnoopingSnooping and swL2IGMPSnoopingCtrlState of associated VLAN entry are all enabled. | |

| POR swL2IGMPSnoopingPortMap | 1.3.6.1.4.1.171.11.78.1.2.11.5.1.4 | PortList | read-only | This object indicates which ports are belong to the same multicast group, in per-Vlan basis. Each multicast group has a octect string to indicate with port map. The most significant bit represents the lowest numbered port, and the least significant bit represents the highest numbered port. Thus, each port of the switch is represented by a single bit within the value of this object. If that bit has a value of '1' then that port is included in the set of ports; the port is not included if its bit has a value of '0'(Note that the setting of the bit corresponding to the port from which a frame is received is irrelevant). The 4 octets is represent one unit port according its logic port. If the unit less 32 port, the other port don't care just fill zero. |
