swL2DevAlarmTopologyChange

Module: DES6500-SWL2MGMT-MIB

OID (symbolic): DES6500-SWL2MGMT-MIB::swL2DevAlarmTopologyChange

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.171.11.78.1.2.1.3.2

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: This object determine to send a trap or not when the switch topology was changed. If the object is enabled(3), the topologyChange trap is sent by the device when any of its configured ports transitions from the Learning state to the Forwarding state, or from the Forwarding state to the Blocking state. For the same port tranition, the device doesn't send the trap if this object value is disabled or other.

What is swL2DevAlarmTopologyChange?

Controls whether the switch sends a topologyChange trap whenever one of its ports transitions between STP forwarding and blocking states. Enabling it gives monitoring tools early warning of Layer 2 topology instability, such as flapping links or repeated STP recalculations.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.171.11.78.1.2.1.3.2
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> DES6500-SWL2MGMT-MIB::swL2DevAlarmTopologyChange

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.171.11.78.1.2.1.3.2.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> DES6500-SWL2MGMT-MIB::swL2DevAlarmTopologyChange.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.171.11.78.1.2.1.3.2.1 i <value>

SNMPv3 example:

snmpget -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3-user -a SHA -A "AuthPassword1" -x AES -X "PrivPassword1" <target> swL2DevAlarmTopologyChange.1
