What Is DCP-MIB?
DCP-MIB is Smartoptics' top-level enterprise MIB for their DCP (digital communications platform) product line, establishing the management OID hierarchy under which the rest of Smartoptics' DCP-related MIB modules register their objects. It does not itself define runtime data objects but rather provides the root namespace for optical transport platform management. Its relevance to monitoring is structural: the actual hardware/software status data for the DCP platform, such as optical transceiver health, chassis/card status, and alarm conditions, would be defined in companion Smartoptics MIB modules that branch from the OIDs registered here. Any object registered under a DCP-MIB OID belongs to one of these companion modules rather than to this root MIB itself. It serves as a shared dependency for other Smartoptics DCP-specific MIBs, similar in role to the paired SO-TC-MIB textual conventions module. It is deployed in optical transport and DWDM network environments where Smartoptics DCP platform equipment is managed via SNMP.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in DCP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Smartoptics DCP-M8-PAM4 — current 8-channel open DWDM line system for 100G PAM4 metro/DCI networks
- Smartoptics DCP-R-34D-CS (2024) — multi-degree ROADM for wavelength-manageable optical networks
Monitoring Examples
No sample objects were provided for this module, consistent with its role as a top-level OID registration MIB rather than a data-object MIB. Administrators would not poll DCP-MIB directly for status; instead, they would interact with the Smartoptics DCP feature/hardware MIBs that use OIDs registered under this module's hierarchy to report actual optical platform status. As such, there is no direct monitoring scenario associated with this module itself.
