Category: WAN / Serial Line

Description: Defines SNMP objects for managing CXR serial/WAN connection parameters and circuit status.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is Cxr-connect-MIB?

Cxr-connect-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB (CXR product line) defining SNMP objects for managing serial/WAN connection parameters and circuit status, built directly on the standard MIB-II system and interfaces groups. Its sample objects show it re-exposing sysDescr, sysUpTime, sysContact, sysName, sysLocation, sysServices, and the standard ifTable/ifEntry/ifIndex interface objects, meaning it inherits the classic MIB-II style of system identity and interface enumeration as its base layer, with CXR-specific connection/circuit objects layered on top. For hardware/software status monitoring, sysUpTime is the standard device-uptime indicator, sysDescr/sysObjectID identify hardware/software version, and the ifTable rows provide per-interface operational status for the serial/WAN circuits this MIB manages. Because it directly imports the standard system and interfaces groups (RFC 1213/MIB-II), it has an explicit, strong dependency on those IETF standard MIBs. It is typically deployed on CXR WAN/serial connectivity equipment in enterprise or telco network environments, where Cxr-connect-MIB SNMP monitoring provides visibility into circuit and interface status.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Cxr-connect-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • CXR serial/WAN connectivity equipment

Monitoring Examples

An operator would poll sysUpTime to confirm the device has not unexpectedly rebooted, and sysDescr/sysObjectID to identify the exact hardware/software version running. ifTable/ifEntry rows (keyed by ifIndex) would be walked to check the operational status of each WAN/serial circuit managed under the cxr-connect branch, revealing an interface that has gone down. sysContact and sysLocation would be checked as part of routine inventory/ownership auditing across a fleet of CXR devices.

What Can Be Monitored

  • system uptime
  • system description/object ID (hardware and software version)
  • per-interface operational status
  • interface count
  • system contact/location metadata
