softwareValidationTimer
Module: CM-SYSTEM-MIB
OID (symbolic): CM-SYSTEM-MIB::softwareValidationTimer
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.2544.1.12.2.1.7.3
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: INTEGER
Access: read-write
Description: Time in minutes before the system will reboot and revert to the active software after a software upgrade. If set to 0, the timer is disabled and the software will automatically be validated after a software upgrade reboot. This object becomes read-only when the software validation timer is active. Default value is 0. When enabled, valid values of the timer range from 10 minutes to 720 minutes.
What is softwareValidationTimer?
This INTEGER (0 or 10-720) sets how many minutes the system will run on newly upgraded software before automatically reverting to the previous active image if it isn't validated, with 0 disabling the timer so validation happens immediately after reboot; it becomes read-only while a validation timer is actively running. An admin uses this as a safety net so a bad upgrade doesn't leave the device stuck on broken software. For example, an operator upgrading a remote, hard-to-reach site might set softwareValidationTimer to 60 minutes so the device automatically rolls back if nobody confirms the upgrade is working within an hour.
