ocnStmThresholdVarOprVariance

Module: CM-PERFORMANCE-MIB

OID (symbolic): CM-PERFORMANCE-MIB::ocnStmThresholdVarOprVariance

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.2544.1.12.5.1.62.1.1

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Integer32

Access: read-write

Description: Variance in the Optical Power Received (in dbM), beyond which threshold crossing alert will be generated.

What is ocnStmThresholdVarOprVariance?

This read-write Integer32 sets the allowed variance, in dBm, in the SFP's received optical power beyond which a threshold-crossing alert should be generated for an OC-n/STM-n line. An admin tunes this variance to control how sensitive optical-power alarming is, tightening it to catch subtle fiber degradation early or loosening it to avoid nuisance alerts from normal power fluctuation. If an admin sets ocnStmThresholdVarOprVariance to 3 dBm on a given line, an alert fires as soon as the measured received power drifts 3 dBm away from its baseline, catching a degrading connector well before the link actually fails.
