Coding violations are the underlying bit-level error events that, once frequent enough within a second, get counted as an errored second, so this counter gives an administrator finer-grained insight into how bad the error rate actually is beneath the second-level metrics. For example, a large ocnStmStatsLineCVs count concentrated in a short period, rather than spread evenly, would suggest a transient event like a fiber cut and splice rather than steady degradation.
