This PerfCounter64 records the number of Coding Violations (line-layer BIP parity mismatches) encountered by a SONET/SDH Line during the history bin. CV is the finest-grained error count on the line, so an admin uses it to gauge underlying bit-error rate trends even when those errors haven't yet accumulated into a full errored second. A steady climb in ocnStmHistoryLineCVs across consecutive 15-minute history bins on an STM-4 line, even with ES staying flat, would flag a slowly worsening optical margin worth trending before it becomes visible as ES.
