An admin watches live line CVs on a DS3/E3 span to catch cabling, connector, or repeater degradation before it worsens into severely errored seconds on this typically high-bandwidth trunk. A sudden rise in e3t3StatsLineCVs mid-bin on a DS3 backbone trunk would prompt the admin to check the coax connectors and BNC terminations at both ends before the trunk's error rate worsens further.
