Description: The temperature of the remote physical layer when media type is fiber.

What is cmEthernetTrafficPortHistoryRTemp?

This object records the temperature of the remote-end optical transceiver for this Ethernet port during the archived historical interval, applicable only when the port's media type is fiber. A historical trend of rising remote temperature warns the admin of an environmental or cooling problem at the far end that could eventually degrade or fail that link. For example, if a remote-site link has been unstable during afternoons, the admin would check cmEthernetTrafficPortHistoryRTemp for those afternoon bins to see if remote transceiver temperature was spiking with ambient heat.
