This counter records the cumulative seconds of loss-of-signal (LOS) events on the downstream direction of an xDSL connection monitored on a cable modem port. LOS events indicate periods where the signal quality degraded below usable thresholds, causing data transmission failures. DSL technicians use historical LOS data to identify line quality problems and determine if line conditions are stable enough for service.
