cXgcpMediaGwRestartDelay

Module: CISCO-XGCP-MIB

OID (symbolic): CISCO-XGCP-MIB::cXgcpMediaGwRestartDelay

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.318.1.2.1.1.6

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Integer32

Access: read-write

Description: This object specifies the Restart Delay Timeout for the restart process for a gateway to send out RestartInProgress when it is powered on or been reset.

The purpose of setting the Restart Delay timer before sending the RestartInProgress notification to the media gateway controller is to avoid the network congestion during the critical period of service restoration.

What is cXgcpMediaGwRestartDelay?

This read-write Integer32, in seconds from 0 to 600, sets the Restart Delay Timeout the gateway waits before sending its RestartInProgress notification to the MGC after being powered on or reset, specifically to avoid network congestion during a critical service-restoration period. It complements the MWD object by adding a further deliberate delay before notifying the controller. For example, an admin recovering many gateways from a site-wide outage would tune this delay to stagger RSIP notifications and avoid overwhelming the MGC during mass restoration.
