What Is CISCO-WIRELESS-TC-MIB?

CISCO-WIRELESS-TC-MIB is a Cisco textual-conventions module defining shared data types used across Cisco's family of wireless LAN management MIBs, including enumerations for 802.11 radio/band types and related wireless attributes. As a TC-only module it defines no OBJECT-TYPE instances or tables of its own - it exists purely to standardize the value sets that other Cisco wireless MIBs (access point, controller, client MIBs) reuse. There is no directly pollable CISCO-WIRELESS-TC-MIB OID to query, since every object it defines is a type definition consumed by other, functional Cisco wireless MIBs. It therefore has no direct monitoring role for hardware/software status; its purpose is definitional, keeping radio-type representation consistent across the Cisco wireless MIB suite. It is a dependency for numerous other Cisco wireless MIBs that import its textual conventions. It is deployed conceptually alongside Cisco wireless LAN controllers and access points wherever those functional MIBs are loaded.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-WIRELESS-TC-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco Wireless 9179F Series Access Point (2025) — Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) quad-radio indoor/outdoor AP, current Catalyst wireless line
  • Cisco Catalyst 9164 Series Access Point (2024) — Wi-Fi 6E enterprise AP using current Cisco wireless textual conventions

Monitoring Examples

This is a textual-conventions-only module with no sample objects and no OBJECT-TYPE instances to poll; it defines things like 802.11 radio-type enumerations (e.g. a/b/g/n) that other Cisco wireless MIBs reference in their own runtime tables.
