Description: Manages Cisco WAN ATM Closed User Group (CUG) configurations for private ATM network segmentation.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-WAN-ATM-CUG-MIB?

CISCO-WAN-ATM-CUG-MIB is a Cisco vendor-specific MIB (not an IETF standard) for managing the Closed User Group (CUG) supplementary service on Cisco ATM/WAN switches, per ITU-T Q.2955.1. It models CUG membership rules via cwaCugTable (indexed by cwaAtmAddress, cwaAddressLength, cwaCugIndex) holding cwaInterlockCode, cwaCallsBarred, and cwaCugRowStatus, and cwaAddressCugTable holding cwaIncomingAccess, cwaOutgoingAccess, and cwaPreferentialCug per ATM address. It exposes access-control/configuration state rather than traffic counters, showing which ATM addresses belong to which restricted call groups and whether incoming/outgoing access is permitted. This is useful for verifying that ATM CUG segmentation policy is correctly provisioned and active on a switch, and it depends on ATM-TC-MIB for address typing. It is deployed on Cisco ATM switches offering private network segmentation, and network engineers working with the CISCO-WAN-ATM-CUG-MIB MIB use it to audit closed-user-group access policy.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-WAN-ATM-CUG-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco WAN ATM switches

Monitoring Examples

An operator polls cwaCugTable entries indexed by cwaAtmAddress and cwaCugIndex to check that cwaCugRowStatus is active and cwaCallsBarred is set to none, and reviews cwaAddressCugTable's cwaIncomingAccess/cwaOutgoingAccess; a CUG entry stuck in notInService or an unexpected cwaCallsBarred value would indicate a misconfigured closed user group blocking legitimate calls.

What Can Be Monitored

  • CUG membership table entries
  • ATM address CUG row status
  • incoming/outgoing call access flags
  • preferential CUG index
  • calls-barred restriction state
